About Me
Greetings! My name is David. I was born and raised in Southern California and I moved to Seattle three years ago. I’ve called many different geographical parts of California home over the years, but I’ve long wanted to experience the Pacific Northwest. I would describe myself as an outgoing nerd who loves to learn and acquire new information. My interests include technology, politics, debate, art and marketing/sales.
I enjoy outdoors activities; road trips to visit and explore our national, state parks as well as fishing and gardening. My hobbies include my aquariums and ponds, collecting various trinkets and tchotchkes, from stamps to retro swizzle sticks. I particularly treasure my wind-up collection and hunting down new additions. In my free time or to wind down I enjoy exploring new movies and music, playing video games, cooking and photography.
Goals
Since moving to Seattle and finding the opportunities available at North Seattle College, I set a goal of completing my (too often) delayed dream of acquiring a college degree. I am currently pursuing a Bachelors in Graphic Design, as well as studying UX and Web design. I’ve taken courses in SQL, Javascript, photoshop and illustrator thus far and practice enhancing my skill set in my freetime.
Growing up in the 90’s and early 2000’s, I was fascinated in the power of the economy and marketplace around the internet. I have had a long interest in pursuing a career in web and graphic design. As a teenager I self learned various skills to build basic websites and online marketing materials for local businesses in my commuity.
As a young adult I worked freelance, helping self employed individuals and home businesses set up a web presence. Since this time I took various jobs and fell out of practice/out of times with the evolution of the profession and building my skillset. I now hope to acquire a degree in the field to facilitate my ability to successfully pursue it as a career.
